Teacher resume example & writing guide

Updated 2026-07-15 · Recommended template: Classic

School districts read teacher resumes for credentials first, classroom results second. Lead with your certification and grade levels, then prove impact with student outcomes.

What to include on a teacher

  • State your certification, subject endorsements, and grade levels in the first two lines.
  • Quantify class sizes, test score improvements, and program growth wherever possible.
  • Include technology you actually teach with — Google Classroom, Canvas, smart boards.
  • Show leadership beyond the classroom: committees, clubs, curriculum design, mentoring.
  • Tailor the summary to the district's mission statement — hiring committees notice.

Sample bullet points

Adapt these to your own numbers — the structure (action, scope, result) is what matters:

  • Raised state reading assessment pass rates from 71% to 86% across two academic years (Grade 4)
  • Designed and launched an after-school STEM club that grew to 45 students in one semester
  • Mentored 3 student teachers through certification, all hired into full-time district roles
