Accountant resume example & writing guide
An accountant resume should read like a clean ledger: precise, verifiable, and organized. Recruiters look for your CPA status, software fluency, and the size of the books you have handled.
What to include on a accountant
- Put CPA (or CPA candidate with exam progress) directly after your name.
- State the scale you worked at: revenue managed, entities consolidated, audit budgets.
- Name your systems — QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros).
- Show closing speed: 'cut month-end close from 10 to 6 days' beats 'responsible for close'.
- Keep a strict reverse-chronological format — this field expects the Classic layout.
