Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask us about building a resume here — pricing, downloads, privacy, templates and ATS.

Is resumetemplate.app really free?

Yes. Every template, the builder itself and PDF downloads cost nothing. There is no trial period, no watermark and no payment step hidden at the end. The site is supported by ads on our guide pages, which keeps the builder itself clean.

Do I need to create an account?

No. You can open the builder and start typing right away. Your resume is saved automatically in your own browser, so when you come back on the same device it will still be there.

Where is my data stored?

On your device. The resume you type is kept in your browser's local storage — it is not uploaded to a server while you edit. If you clear your browser data, the resume goes with it, so export a backup file for anything important.

How do I download my resume as a PDF?

Click “Download PDF” in the builder. Your browser's print dialog opens — choose “Save as PDF” as the destination and confirm. The layout is print-optimized, so what you see in the preview is what lands in the file.

Are these templates ATS-friendly?

Yes. All twelve layouts use real, selectable text with a logical reading order — no text baked into images, no tables that scramble parsing. Recruiters' software reads them the same way a person does.

Can I switch templates without losing my work?

Anytime. Your content and your design are stored separately, so clicking a different template simply re-dresses the same information. Try several before you download.

Can I add a photo to my resume?

Six templates support an optional photo: Portrait, Corporate, Spark, Editorial, Modern and Bold. Whether you should include one depends on where you're applying — it's common in Brazil and much of Latin America, and generally discouraged in the US and Canada.

Can I edit my resume later?

Yes, on the same device and browser it reloads automatically. To move between devices, use “Export JSON” to download a small backup file, then “Import” on the other machine.

What if my resume is longer than one page?

The preview paginates just like the PDF will. One page is a good target for under ten years of experience; two pages are fine beyond that. Our blog has a full guide on resume length if you're unsure.

Which languages does the site support?

English, Spanish and Portuguese. Use the language menu in the top-right corner — guides and examples are written natively for each language, not machine-translated.
